Core doctrines:
- There is but one only, living, and true God, who exists eternally in three co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- God created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them out of nothing.
- Mankind was created in God’s image in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness, but fell into sin, making salvation necessary.
- The way of salvation is revealed through the Bible, which is the infallible and authoritative Word of God. It is supreme in all matters of faith and life.
- Salvation is a free gift from God, received by grace through personal faith in Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice, not by any works of one’s own.
- Salvation was accomplished by Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is fully God and fully man and therefore the only Mediator between God and man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died for our sins. He rose from the dead and will return in glory.
- The Holy Spirit’s special role for the Church is to convict, guide, instruct, and empower believers until Christ returns.
Additional key beliefs:
Marriage
Marriage is defined as a covenantal relationship exclusively between one man and one woman, as ordained by God.
The Church
The invisible Church consists of those who trust in Christ alone for salvation throughout all ages. This Church is manifested imperfectly on earth through assembled church bodies (collectively known as the visible Church) in which “wheat and tares” will grow alongside each other until the end of time. There is no other head of the Church but the Lord Jesus Christ.
